Looking
to download music eh? Well good deal. You can use any of the
programs on this site to get it, but read this section to
know more about digital music.
Remember that music
can come in an archive. If you didn't read that, click File
Types on the left, then come back.
Here is a description
of common audio files.
Audio Files
(.mp3 .mp2)
Play them with WinAmp or your favorite audio player. Most
new dvd players support the playing of mp3 cds. Making mp3
cds lets you put 100+ mp3 files on a cd for playing on your
dvd player, computer, or portable mp3 cd player. However,
they will not work on a regular cd player.
(.ogm .ogg)
These are Ogg Vorbis
media files. You can find out more about them and download
applications here. This file type is another encoding format
that can be used for various media. Any new version of WinAmp
will play these files.
(.wma)
These are Windows Media Player audio files. You can still
play them with WinAmp and many other audio players. Some new
dvd players support the playing of wma cds. Making wma cds
is similar to making an MP3 cd.
Again,
Pay attention to the file extension. It may be called “Baby
Got Back” but if the extension is .exe, do not open
it. If the file is less than 1 kilobyte, don’t waste
your time downloading it. It’s not legit. Sometimes
you will download a bad song, or movie. When you start actively
downloading from any source, you are going to have to pay
attention to a few details. How big are the files supposed
to be (approximately) that you are downloading? Mp3s, depending
on quality, should be about 4 mb.
