was the first decentralized network. Because of the network's
open nature, many different clients emerged. Use these:
Limewire for Windows users.
Poisoned again for Mac users.
Limewire and the
gnutella network is my personal favorite out of the P2P programs.
Again, after you
have downloaded the program, set it up. Searching and downloading
are very similar to the other P2P programs. It will always
ask you to upgrade to Limewire Pro, and I haven’t found
a reason to do so yet. So just keep clicking “Later.”
You are immediately
at the search screen. See the icon in the lower left cornet
of the screen that looks like a cell phone signal? That’s
your network connectivity strength. Wait until it is strong.
Then, type whatever you want in the search box. Again, more
results. Double click one to download it. Your search results
are on the bottom half of the window.
Tip: To
find out the folder Limewire is using for sharing, click “Tools”
select “Options” and the select “Sharing.”
You can add and remove folders here.
